Sleepless Town
Sleepless Town
Put on your gown
Sleepless Town
*
I've grown accustom
to your steady frown
your weary turns
your smells and sounds.
*
Never bright
Never cool
Always followed
Simply Ruled
*
And this is where they lay their heads
In their chairs
or in their beds
*
Drugged up on
medication pills
Fixed from steady
golden years
*
And not a day
that comes and goes
is there an awakening
or an impossible thought shaking
*
But always is a light on
Ringing in my pocket
in my head
needing fresh sheets on the bed
*
I only wish the best years for them
Countless numbered aging men
And woman in their deathly grins
*
For the sake of their community
For the convenience of their family
For the better of the heavenlies
And non for the better of men.
